CORONAVIRUS UPDATE 71 Office of the Administrative Vice Chancellor
New UCLA Online Telecommuting Resource
To: Faculty and Staff
In order to help slow the spread of COVID-19, in spring 2020 UCLA quickly shifted employees who were not required to be on campus to telecommuting. This unplanned need was a logistical challenge for the campus and likely for you as well. For many, the results have demonstrated that telecommuting is a productive, valuable and effective means of working, while others may need further assistance and support.
Telecommuting has always been a component of our organization, but never have we had to implement such a process so quickly, without warning and on such a large scale. While telecommuting has been practiced at UCLA for many years, recent developments in technology enable higher quality working interactions and productivity.
Following up on the announcement that those of you who have been successfully working remotely will continue doing so through March 19, we developed a new online telecommuting resource to provide information, tools and support for employees and supervisors. Please use this resource and be sure to review the checklists and tips, in particular.
Thank you for your flexibility and continued commitment to UCLA. We will get through this together, whether working on campus or from home. Stay safe.
Michael J. Beck
Administrative Vice Chancellor
